Dec 6, 2020 · Most collections in NW PA and NE Ohio contain, to some degree, Onondaga Chert. Onondaga was brought to this region by the glaciers. DeRegnaucourt and Georgiady give the following info and description from "Prehistoric Chert Types of the Midwest" GEOLOGICAL STRATIGRAPHY Edgcliff, Nedrow/Clarence, and Moorehouse Five flint and chert arrowheads. These five flint and chert arrowheads were found in Kincardineshire (two examples), at Orford in Aberdeenshire, at Nairn in Highland and at Leadhills in Lanarkshire. They are fancy arrowheads, perhaps used for sport hunting sometime between 2500 and 900 BC. Jul 14, 2022 · Thanks guys, not good with lithic types but I definitely think its something learned from hands on the pieces and hard to get out of any book of from pictures. Seeing and feeling firsthand is where its at imo. But im learning. I have read of these palm wood artifacts but not sure about in this area. Ill look into it. Thanks again

I have been hunting over the years around many quarries which some are close together.But what I find odd is the distribution of the quarries. They are localized. And when you find the other quarry lithics it's almost always an artifact.I have seen more in tools such as scrapers more predominate.
