The serpentine belt getting sucked into the engine via the front main seal really only happens if the belt has been soaked in oil from a very bad oil filter housing gasket leak. It happens because the belt swells and then the tensioner can't tension it anymore causing it to slip off between the crank pulley and engine block.
Jul 17, 2014 · The Schley/SP Tools BMW N54 N55 T-60 Torx Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool, No. 12500, allows technicians to access most T-60 Torx belt tensioners on BMW N54 and N55 engines found in many models from 2007 to 2013. The 12500 is double-ended to fit more models and is extra long for better leverage. Use a 16mm socket and a torque wrench to tighten the idler pulley bolt to 40Nm. After that, use the E14 socket to torque the tensioner's bolt to 25Nm. Then, because the tensioner's bolt is aluminum, tighten the bolt another 90°.
