The width difference is not much a G30 is 1.28 inches and a G36 is 1.10 inches. With a G30 having 10+1 verse 6+1 plus with a G30 my spare mag is a 13 round G21 mag. A little wider than the Model 36 and a bit taller and longer than the Model 39. In addition, the availability of .45ACP vs. .45GAP was a factor in my decision. I have a 23 and a 30SF (same grip as 30s). I prefer the full grip of the 23, the 30 has to use an oversize magazine base to accommodate my pinky; the gap between the mag base and frame is a pinky pincher (for me) , can be mostly filled with a plumbing o-ring. However, using "flush" fitting magazines, the 30 is potentially easier to conceal.I've had the 3" xds .45 and still have a 30s. I didn't care for the feel of the Xds and I didn't like the trigger. The 30s felt much better to me and was naturally easier to control with follow ups. Once I had some time with the 30s I traded the xds. The way they both carry is close enough that twice the capacity in the 30s is the way to go imo.
