Basically, whenever I extract I lose at least one of the three weapons on me. Just now, I lost 2 of the 3 weapons. I solo killed a 4-man squad that rushed me in waves of two. Equip something onto that gun. Start it, back out, restart the game. Equip the actual gun you want to customize. Restart the game. Create the gun you want and see if it loads with it. To test if is starting to work just equip a gun skin in the beginning and see if your character is holding it in the load screen.

'an enemy operator's weapon' should have no 'hidden meaning' The reason they didn't put an accurate description in is because they likely realized it was a stupid mission. Extract an operator's weapon that they loaded into dmz with. Weapons that they picked up - which you have zero fucking way to tell - don't count.

It allows me to select it, but when I select it, it doesn't actually equip it - although if you try and re-equip it, it says it's already equipped to the slot - but I can't actually bring it into the game. Equip a different weapont to that slot, then switch it back. Having the same issue with a blueprint weapon I extracted from DMZ 🤦‍♂️.

Best I can tell, having attachments from bundles/variant attachments causes the guns to disappear upon infil. Big issue if you're infilling with contraband player weapons and your own, as it will cause your own gun to disappear.
