Observe if the load drops and how fast it takes. A fully functional hydraulic system will keep a load in the raised position for months. On my 3000 the lever has to be up for position control. Rick, it sounds like your hydraulics are working normal, when in the draft position the hydraulics operate differantly, they are controled by the movement of the draft spring that is attatched from the hydraulic rocker to below your seat.

Disassemble the control linkage until you can get the part with the worn pin out of there. Press or drive the worn pin out. Replace with the correct hardened dowel pin part number 374072S from Ford/New Holland. This is listed as a 5/16″ x 7/8″ dowel pin but it is actually .309″ diameter not 5/16″ (.3125″).

There are two adjustment to make, one with the lever down in draft control position and another with the lever up in position control.
