We are looking at staying at Chena Hot Springs and also Aurora Borealis Lodge. First, there is no Santa Claus "village". Santa Claus House is a gift shop in the tiny town of North Pole about 15 minutes southeast of Fairbanks. No fee required to enter. There were some unusual (to me) Christmas decorations & ornaments there, though I have no idea what is available in Europe.Let's see - I would also recommend checking out explorefairbanks for more ideas than I can think of but here would be mine for a winter visit: University of Alaska museum, walking Creamer's field, the car museum, Morris Thompson visitor center, etc. Go eat some Thai food - Fairbanks has a ton to choose from. Chena hot springs would be #1 on my list if it wasn't for those reviews. I guess I'm trying to figure out if going out to the hot springs is worth the current car rental prices and possibly needing to skip the Museum of the North, which sounds like a spot I'd like.
