The difference between the rt81 and the 82-85 is that the 81 has a built-in pre-amp, while the 82-85 need external ones and are considered part of the "Reference" series of turntables. Other than that, the difference mostly comes down to minor things like the cartridges they use and also the type of platter in the case of the 85.
