Carrying everything you find is a bad idea in DayZ, only carry what you need to keep stamina reserves high. One large firearm, one large melee weapon, one small firearm, and all the small essentials are plenty.

Every zombie has a can of food on them. Get Livonia and learn how to play on there. The map is a lot smaller and the road signs are in the English alphabet (Chernarus road signs are in Russian alphabet, makes it a lot harder to find the town you're in on the map.) The only downside is it's an extra $10-$15 for the DLC.
