The Crown Store didn't debut 9 years ago when the game dropped, whateverisfree ... it was more like late 2016 with the OneTamriel patch. Even in 2016 Crown gifting wasn't a thing. It took until the Summerset Chapter to enable Crown gifting (summer 2018). So, more like 4+ years for it to become an issue.
