You have a .38 Military & Police model of 1905, 4th change, dating from the 1920s. I believe that S&W began stamping the one line "Made in USA" on the right side after 1921. It comes from a lineage back to 1899, they begame the model 10 in 1957 and were made in various forms. The 10 dash 6 is known as the heavy barrel variety. Your gun is not as old as you may think, it left the factory in 1965, so it is getting some age on it though. Hope that helps.
