The undergraduate program is designed to be completed in four years. The sample plan below is an important guide for students, as good planning is important for timely graduation with a degree in a rigorous engineering program. It should be noted that students entering the program with AP credits may benefit from added flexibility. During their first semester, students develop a four year plan based on templates provided for each major (see www.4yearplans.umd.edu). Each plan includes specific benchmark courses to be completed within a specific period of time. Four year plans must be approved by an advisor in order to register for subsequent semesters.
