Ninjatrader and Tradovate are two complete different systems. Let me explain NInjatrader is a locally runned program. Meaning it runs on your computer, where as tradovate is a web based application so it runs on the web. The one thing that ninjatrader has over tradovate is that it allows you to pretty much connect to any broker of your choice.

You can move into a paid platform after you've developed and refined a winning strategy. This is the route I took and currently on ninjatrader with lifetime for lower commissions.
