It's a 1990 Wrangler but the block numbers on the 258 say it's from the late 70s. Looks like its been swapped at some point with some nice headers, intake manifold, and carb. The reason the manufacturer went to an electric pump was because of fuel injection. The mechanical pump is easy to change if it fails, which it seldom does.If the pump is sending too much fuel to the carb, the float valve will stop the flow of fuel into the bowl. If that return line isn't there, the fuel has no where to go. This could possibly rupture the diaphragm in the fuel pump...depending on the quality of the pump.
